Give priority to the Indonesian language,
preserve local languages, and master a foreign language is a slogan that should
be obeyed. Krishandini, Defina and Endang Sri Wahyuni has
provided A Portrait
of Sundanese Maintenance in Multilingual
Learning in Bogor in Litera Journal
Volume 18 Number 2. Most children in Bogor
use Indonesian in their daily life. In an effort to support the maintenance of
regional languages, especially Sundanese in Bogor, the role of various elements
of society such as government, schools, communities, and families is very
important. West Java Provincial Government has made an effort based on
literature studies by issuing West Java Governor Decree Number 423.5 / Kep.674-Disdik
/ 2006 about competency
standards and basic competence also guideline of curriculum pronounciation
level of education unit of Sundanese language and literatureas an effort to
maintain Sundanese language (DisdikJabar, 2007). Of the six elementary schools
studied, all have applied the Decree of the Governor of West Java. Sundanese
language learning is carried out once a week and taught by class teachers in
various time durations. In this journal we can know that Elementary School
students do not practice their multilingual skill such as Sundanese and English
properly. In learning both languages they tend to choose to keep using Indonesian. This should be evaluated so that students are accustomed to using multilingual. Self-habituation using multilingualism, such as Sundanese and English, will be better if applied in daily life. The location of Bogor, which is close to the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, is not a reason to leave its local language, namely Sundanese.
